Our department consists of five programs: Modern Turkish Literature, Old Turkish Literature, Modern Turkish Language, Old Turkic Language and Turkish Folk Literature.
Program of Modern Turkish Literature
The studies carried out in the Department of Modern Turkish Literature cover a period of time starting from the Tanzimat Period and extending to the present day. The studies belonging to the Program are classified in the context of both influential literary movements and trends, namely Tanzimat Literature, Servet-i Fünûn Literature, Fecr-i Âti Literature, National Literature, Republican Period and Post-Republican Turkish Literature, as well as landmark political developments. The periods in question are studied in depth by taking literary genres such as poetry, short stories and novels into the center; personalities and texts belonging to the periods also form an important part of these studies.

Program of Old Turkish Literature
Old Turkish Literature began to give competent examples by taking its theoretical and aesthetic principles from Turkish-Islamic culture in the course of development of Turkish literature and taking shape under the strong influence of Persian literature, which it considers an example in particular, 13. since the end of the century, the Ottoman State officially adopted westernization in the 19th century. It is a well-established literary tradition that has existed until the middle of the century. Within this literary tradition, which is fed from the main sources such as religion and sufism, history and social life, science and philosophy, as well as the aesthetic value system, numerous works of poetry and literature have been brought into being. With the courses given at the undergraduate level within the scope of the program, it is aimed to convey to students the origin of this tradition, the conditions of its emergence, the historical and social values in which it was produced, the changes and transformations it has experienced, the species diversity it has, basic theoretical knowledge and the necessary information to correctly understand the texts produced in the tradition.

Program of Turkish Folk Literature
In the courses within the scope of the Program of Turkish Folk Literature, it includes an educational program that directs students to understand, study, interpret and produce information on a wide range of cultures, from historical epochs to everyday life. Various folk culture products that have been formed and are being formed from past to present in spoken, written and electronic cultural environments are introduced to students in the courses, the structure/shape, type/form, content/subject, sociocultural communication and interaction / context and functional characteristics of these products, as well as interdisciplinary basic qualities are examined and analyzed based on modern folklore theories. Turkish Folk Literature courses aim to educate individuals who study, interpret and propose solutions to the socio-cultural problems of society by considering culture from various aspects.

Program of Old Turkic Language
The Program of Old Turkic Language will provide students with the 7th edition, in which the first known written works are found. Turkish language provides an opportunity to get to know the Old Turkic and Middle Turkish periods starting from the century. On the one hand, students learn Turkish Runic Script, Uyghur Alphabet and Arabic Alphabet in order to master ancient texts. The Old Turkic Language field opens new doors to students in order to better understand today's Turkish and to reach its traces in the past. In our program, our students are offered the opportunity to conduct qualified research on information about the beginning of the permanent adventure of Turkish culture and language extending from the vast steppes of Central Asia to Anatolia.

Program of Modern Turkish Language
Modern Turkish Program, which focuses on the period of the century and beyond, offers an educational program covering language courses related to the periods of Western Turkish. This period consist of Old Anatolian Turkish, Ottoman Turkish and Turkish. The courses offered within this framework introduce the procedures, techniques and tools required for language analysis by applying to the basic concepts, theories and methods of general and historical linguistics; on the one hand, it gives a systematic perspective on Turkish grammar, on the other hand, it provides students with the philological and paleographic competencies necessary for this circuit, bringing them to the level of conducting independent research in the field. Offering a comprehensive perspective on both the Ottoman written language tradition and the spoken language and dialects, the department's courses reveal the historical course of the Turkish language in Anatolia and the Balkan geography in detail. In addition, it also allows students to look at the process of transferring Turkish, the primary building block of Turkish culture, from generation to generation as an element of culture in its journey from history to the past, with a critical and conscious look.
