Brief History of Department

The Department started its undergraduate program with normal education at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in the academic year 1994-1995. At the academic year 1998-1999, a second education program began. Since July 26, 2022, the Department of Turkish Language and Literature has become a part of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. And keeps up with its normal and secondary education. The Department of Turkish Language and Literature also offers Master and PhD programs. The program's language is Turkish.

Department Vision and Mission

Vision: A powerful scientific institution that can best serve the needs of the region, particularly Çanakkale, with its young, dynamic staff, liberal, innovative, and sustainable educational program, quality-oriented institutional principles, and scientific research and education initiatives in the field of Turkish language and literature.

Mission: To be a department with a focus on quality, innovation, and entrepreneurship that aims to develop knowledgeable, well-equipped, cultured, and self-assured people in the field of Turkish language and literature, adopts a methodology for project-based, multidisciplinary, practice-oriented research in scientific studies, and upholds long-term relationships with its stakeholders.

The Department's Objectives

The Turkish Language and Literature Department Undergraduate Program's objectives are to familiarize students with the methods and techniques employed in the field of Turkish Language and Literature, to educate them about the literature in the area, to equip them with the knowledge and abilities needed to comprehend literary texts written in ancient letters, and to prepare them to use their newly acquired knowledge and abilities in the fields of education, research, and community service while adhering to various social, cultural, and artistic practices.

Administrative Structure of the Department and Academic Staff

Head of Department,  Vice Head of Department, and Heads of Department of Turkish Language and Literature constitute the department's administrative structure. The Department of Turkish Language and Literature employs 20 academic staff members, including 3 professors, 6 associate professors, 8 assistant professor, 1 teaching assistant, and 2 research assistants.
